The New!
Herdmanston Residential Suite
Welcome to our newly envisioned hotel, a striking nine-storey contemporary marvel designed to offer the ultimate modern comfort and convenience. With a keen commitment to sustainability, our building is set to meet all LEED standards, ensuring that every detail, from structural elements to MEP services, aligns with the Green Energy Initiative. Even as we embrace contemporary cutting-edge design and eco-friendly practices, we will seamlessly integrate our sleek, modern aesthetics with the charm of the existing hotel structure, creating a harmonious blend of innovation and tradition.
Design Objectives: When the client first approached our practice about this exciting venture, their vision was clear: they desired “the most beautiful building in Guyana.” Their request was for a four-star hotel design that would ensure every guest enjoys a “memorable” experience from the moment they arrive until their departure. With such an inspiring brief, we are thrilled to create a space that promises to captivate and delight every visitor.

Herdmanston Residential Suite Design
While the challenge of limited land space initially posed a hurdle to fulfilling the client’s vision, we are proud to have met this challenge with an exceptional design that promises a superb client experience. At RJA, we have embraced the principles and standards needed to achieve these goals, all while integrating the “GREEN” initiative into every aspect of the project.
Our contemporary design features exterior walls made from a blend of plastered clay blocks, thermal laminated glass, and insulated cladding systems. The glass façade is carefully oriented to reduce heat penetration, with sun shading devices incorporated to enhance energy efficiency.
From the moment guests approach the entrance to the lobby, they are greeted by a space designed to be both inviting and striking, with smooth circulation and warm accent lighting creating a welcoming atmosphere. The high atrium ceiling brings the outside greenery into the open space, setting the stage for a memorable experience.
Materials for floors and walls have been selected to complement the minimalist contemporary design while adding a touch of luxury. Every aspect of the interior, from furnishings to room layouts, follows this cohesive design concept.
The surrounding environment will be thoughtfully paved and landscaped, with appropriate lighting for both aesthetics and security. Car parking will be designed to meet standard architectural practices, blending seamlessly with the green spaces.
In addressing the “Greening” of the structural aspects, we recognise that buildings account for around 40% of global CO2 emissions. Our design prioritises reducing both operational and embodied carbon emissions. We have focused on minimising the use of carbon-intensive materials, embracing upcycling, and selecting the lowest-carbon options available, all while ensuring safety and durability.
